If you are to choose between these two CMS, which one will be your choice? What do you like about these and which one will get your preference?
Joomla or Drupal

I'm interested in reading responses from anyone with experience from either of the two! I've never used them since they feel a bit bulky and hard to maintain, but I'd love to have my prejudice crushed by some avid Drupal or Joomla fan!

I am a Joomla fan. I have used both.
Drupal is a good CMS in core. They have an active development cycle ( good enough for an open source project ). The problem I see in Drupal is a leaner ecosystem compared to Joomla.
Joomla is as big a tree as WordPress. The only problem is that there is a learning curve in Joomla core. You will get your head on fire if you are trying it for the first time. But Joomla core is more powerful than WordPress which is simple and straightforward.
You can do a lot of things with core Joomla itself. The no. of plugins, frameworks and other related ecosystem is very strong for Joomla.
If you search Joomla, it will take a few days to cover all the results. Drupal however might not be able to boast of such an achievement.

I never used Drupal before, but I am currently using Joomla for my Sonic blog right now. I like Joomla over Wordpress, and it's my favorite CMS so far! I haven't had too many issues figuring out stuff in the back end of the software, but I also haven't installed much on my blog other than a simple comments system.

I have only ever used WordPress myself but I have heard about both of these CMS and I have heard that Joomla is one that many do seem to enjoy and praise.
I do need to check out Joomla myself, I have been saying I will check it out for a while but then I get sidetracked and forget. One of these days I will check it out. Been hearing a lot more about Drupal as well so I may check that one out too.

Drupal as well so I may check that one out too.
Drupal is simple, no nonsense stuff compared to Joomla. The only thing that it is pulling them back is a good marketing team. Drupal is old, established and secure. They are around since a long time.

I am going with Joomla this year. I like Drupal but Joomla is more comfortable and many themes and plugins.
