Looks nice. Will need a VPS?
I don't this one will work on a conventional Shared Hosting package.
This looks different but it looks nice. I love how there is still forum software that is free and also newly available as it gives those who want to run a forum a good choice on what they would like to use and what would benefit their project better.
For some people, something like phpBB or even MyBB may not be what they need and this could be a good choice for them.
That would be wonderful. It would still need Python, right?
I will have to see whether I can use it for any of my projects. Or have it on localhost to try and get the feel of it.
Now that you are giving me ideas, let me try a local dev environment. Want to see it hands-on.
Not sure whether I can host it on my setup. But surely going to try locally.
Namecheap allows setting up Python apps in their shared hosting plans. That is when I last checked. Forem looks a promising project to me. So tempting 🏄️
Did you try talking to them? Do they support apps like these under their Python umbrella?
It's great seeing another free open source software! I'm not a fan of the modern forum design, so I'm not really a fan of the look and layout of FOREM powered communities. Reminds me too much of social media, which I'm also not really a fan of design and layout wise. I can see this being good for those who enjoy that type of layout though!
Forem devs themselves say that managing a self hosted instance is hard

QuotePlease note that Forem is a complex piece of software, and hosting and managing it in a cloud environment is non-trivial.
Never heard of a forum software called forem. I run multiple forums and mostly on open source software like SMF, MyBB, and phpBB. I have limited skills with forum development, therefore, in order to use any software I will have to see whether it is beginner friendly or not.
You need Fedora CoreOS, that's all. Otherwise, it is the regular drill

I am giving up. PHP based scripts are easier to handle when compared to these new age software.
I went to check this out but it just seems like a splashpage now and nothing else? Can't see what the actual software looks like? Does anyone have a demo I can check out?
