  5. Unethical

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has changed the way the internet works. From graphics to SEO, everything that keeps the internet going are now influenced by AI. Jobs that required expert skills before are now replaced by a few prompts and access to AI.

But are we doing it correctly? Does the use of AI generated content can help our website do well on Google? Let us check 5 ways how AI generated is causing a bad impact on your website.

Not Reliable

One of the main problems that website owners encounter with AI generated content is that there is no quality assurance. If you are creating an image, it may end up blurry or of low quality with wrong details and indications. It is not verified at any stage. Considering that AI tools are still at their nascent stage, the accuracy of everything we get is as unreliable as it can be.

Even AI tools are vocal about it and give you warning not to trust it by heart.

Visitors won’t trust

Some content generated by AI is so crude that visitors will know that it is Bot generated. That is an open invitation to discard the content and move on. They might never come back or recommend your website to other users. There is a good chance they leave a negative review or rating which can affect the future prospects of your website.

Bad SEO

It is not only counterproductive but also harmful SEO-wise according to the March 2024 update, Google is not much interested in AI generated content. There is a good chance that your website gets a penalty for the same. It will be a big dent and very hard to recover.

If you are running a website that is solely depending on AI to generate content and you are facing low organic traffic and bad listing on Google, chances are that you are already hit by the algorithm change.

Mistakes that can cause damage

As we discussed above, the content is highly unreliable in many aspects. Say you are providing medical advice of some nature, there is a good chance that it can cause serious damage to the person taking that advice. This is not only sad but also can cause legal trouble.

The impact is not limited to medical advice, it extends to advice related to dieting, yoga or even how you should be dealing with pets.

It can cause serious damage if you build an electronic board with the wrong component based on AI advice.

The ways in which AI generated content can land you and visitors are close to infinite. It will be a good choice to be ready with a proper disclaimer, notice and legal backup if you are planning to go ahead with this choice.

Costly

AI requires costly hardware, software and infrastructure. Which means that you will be paying a premium for the best services in the market. This can cause a serious impact on your budget. A human professional might do it for you at a much lower cost and with greater quality.

Unethical

Artificial Intelligence or AI is not as advanced as humans, not even close. It relies on the already available data to give you results. That is more or less stealing other people’s content and using it for your needs. It might be true that you are not doing it. But the AI is definitely walking that path and they extensively use 3rd party content to train their engine.

If you feel supportive to creative authors and artists out there, which many do, you can skip using such content. A lot of platforms have anti-AI policies for this reason. Big communities like DeviantArt, StackOverflow and many others do not support AI generated content.
