5 Ways Social Media is Keeping Blogs and Forums Alive

A lot of people dislike social media. They are well justified for many reasons. But do you know that social media plays an important role in keeping the outside content ecosystem alive?

It is true that Google and organic traffic are the main sources for third-party content sources like blogs and forums. But social media has its own role to play as well.

How?

Provide Traffic

From Facebook to LinkedIn, social media platforms allow you to share your blog articles and forum topics with their members. Facebook pages, groups, LinkedIn profiles, groups etc are a good accumulation of prospective readers for a number of topics.

Helps add information

Most works on blogs and forums are by individuals. When shared on social media, it allows other authoritative figures to contribute, correct and comment on a number of facts and statements. This helps people create reliable content and get rid of incorrect information and add expert comments and derivations to the topic.

Mindless Criticism

While everyone hates this, it is important for some topics to be reviewed impartially and at times without mercy. They are normally of an opinion in nature and often rely on a person’s or community’s viewpoint. While it is helpful to have such views and comments, for a good society, it is important to treat them impartially if it challenges the common goal of the society.

The good thing is that the source is untouched and still people get to add their views and comments irrespective of what the author thinks about the subject.

Helps generate revenue

If one or all of the above happens to your blog post or forum topic, there is a good chance that you already made a considerable amount of money through views and impressions for ads you host on your platform.

It also helps you add followers to your social media account, group or page which you can monetise later.

Popularity

The more people see, talk and discuss your forum and blog topics on social media, it helps you build your brand, get more traffic, generate more revenue and get more popularity. When you are able to achieve this consistently, you have a successful blog or forum that can bring more traffic organically.

While I understand that social media is not without its limitations, when used correctly, forums & blogs, and other independent sources of content can benefit hugely through these platforms.

It also ensures that these platforms get reliable, sane and informative content and discussion even when the source is a third party publication. It only helps make social media get better and come out of whatever people accuse of it.
