There is nothing theme houses can't do. They will find a way.
Invision

They are doing it well, revealing bits and pieces. Keeps the interest going.
-
Luckily for them, the new features are good. Otherwise it would have been bad PR.
-
Imagine that!
I would hate to be at the receiving end in that case.
-
Invision has much better marketing and PR these days. They are doing some good things about interacting with the community. Keeping them in the loop.
-
Xenforo also does the HYS videos. Saw Featured Posts for Xenforo 2.3.
-
Would be fun. WoltLab won the race of time though. They are very close to a stable release. Xenforo 2.3 and Invision 5 is long away.
-
Xenforo and Invision are more popular, for some reason.
-
Both are good software. I would give the credit to them. But expensive too when compared to other forum software.
Forums do not make much money like old days.
-
Everyone I know is into Discord channels. I should start one too
-
You can run a forum and have a Discord channel too. It is just another social media like FB, X and Instagram.
-
Discord got its own Threads feature. Much like forums. You can ask a question as a thread, and others can reply to that topic.
-
Did you see the new teaser? Talks about theme editor in Invision 5.
From what I saw you can customise colours and header easily

Looks cool. I wonder what the price will be.
The price is $199 / year

I really like that fact that they are doing public alpha. Something Woltlab has been doing even though they are paid software. Allowing general public to access the software and use it ( even for a small period ) helps generate a lot of discussions. This is generally good for the product.
-
Woltlab allows a downloadable setup. Here only online login is allowed. You do not get the files or have the ability to install and try on localhost.
-
Yes, Woltlab allows you to download their experimental builds and install online as well (IIRC).
Invision was closed doors till now. It is a good step towards open and transparent sneak peek. There are many Invision fans and those who have not tried just because they do a lot of things behind the closed doors. Totally, I see a good move for forum enthusiasts as they get to test one more software.

I did try to register, you know?
