Approving Posts

    How do you feel about forums that require approval on your posts before they are shown to the public?


    Does that turn you off?


    In what situations is this acceptable?


    If you are a staff member on a forum, how quickly do you approve posts? If you fail to approve a post, do you let the member know right away?

    I would say it is a good way of preventing spam from getting through. Some forums have it set so that the first 10 - 20 posts are approved so they can be sure that the member is not someone who will spam the forum which could cause more work.


    I myself am staff on one forum that uses the approval of posts and I as well as other staff members approve them as fast as we can but it does make a huge difference in how much spam gets through.

    I do not mind if my posts are put on moderation when I am new to the forum. I think it is ok to put your first 20-25 posts on moderation. This helps the admin find out whether you are a genuine user or not. But if my posts are put in moderation forever, I would just leave the forum.
