Do you think it is wise to use free forum software for your projects? Do you have any reasons to support it?
Free Software is a better choice
-
-
Yes, it would be a good choice based on how you plan to use it.
If you are ready to pay every year a premium amount, then paid software is yours for sure. Please note that this amount might increase with time.
-
Paid software is bad?
-
I never said it is bad. In some cases, they have better feature addition rate, efficient and timely support and more
-
I do not feel that we should keep paid software away just because of monetary reasons.
-
Why not? In the end, it is all about money. It has a say on a lot of things and controls and changes people's behaviour drastically.
Very few web projects are selfless. Most of them exist to make money.
I understand what you say, but if there is strong FOSS presence, I think it is a better option.
-
It is like hating iPhone. There is no logic in it.
-
FOSS has place in the software industry. That is something we cannot deny.
Free software is a part of the society, based on a principle.
I do not enjoy the idea of being at other people's mercy.
-
You mean, only free software?
-
I paid for Windows. They had it bundled with my laptop. I can afford to pay and I paid.
But see, there was no option to buy that laptop without Windows.
-
What is wrong in using free software?
I like FOSS too. But there is better support, better addons, better a lot of things with free software.
-
Ya? Tried WordPress?
-
Yep, it is a good way to explain. But this is forums, right?
-
Forums are slower than other support venues. It is easier and faster to get support on social media channels.
Forums are highly influenced by what paid software offers.
-
Actions like these make people think more about free software
