Do you buy premium themes for your forum or use free?

  • When it comes to the look of your forum, you have the ability to be able to change the theme to something that suits your niche and to something that is more inviting.

When it comes to using a theme do you prefer to go for a free theme or would you rather buy a premium theme? Maybe a theme that you have custom-made just for your forum.

  • I am completely ok with buying a premium theme. But I quite happy with the default home page we have here. With Xenforo using a category listing, this one is new to many people. There is a fresh feeling compared to the age old category listing.

  • I had tried dabbling in making themes but it’s not for me. Fortunately, my forum is on Proboards & we have a Library we can use to download themes that other members have created. Or you may be fortunate to have somebody willing to do a theme for you. I wouldn't pay for one, not unless I absolutely had to. I feel other plug-ins would be more beneficial if I were on a Paid platform.

  • It depends on what they have to offer.
Often these days, I go with premium themes as they offer quality and new features and doesn't have too many links, unlike the free themes.

This is something I noticed myself, the free themes always look like the default with color and if you are looking for something a little different and unique, premium may be the only way to go. I am always willing to go for premium if I feel it would help the forum and would be a good investment.

  • Bought before and will do it again. Some themes are really good with added features. They contribute to SEO as well through clean code.

Free software has many free themes unlike premium forum scripts.

This is true, if you can find a theme that is clean and ideal for your forum then it works well and would be a great investment to the forum. I bought a premium theme myself for a forum I opened a few months ago after kind donations to help and it was the best thing I did.

  • Yes, I buy premium themes. For WordPress mainly. They have good SEO and a lot of options. Always choose big brands.

This is good to know. I have been working with WordPress for a few years now and I will admit, some of the free themes are good but the premium themes offer so much more.

I am definitely considering getting a premium theme for my blog when I can as I feel it would not only look better but it would also be better for my site in the long run and a great investment.

Premium themes are premium for a reason. You are definitely going to get quality for money spent. They have that support too should you be in need for any of their help too.
